Republicans and Immigration Reform
The Republican position on immigration reform is yet unclear. Some (very loud) elements of the base staunchly support deportation of Latin American immigrants in the country without permission. Others in the party support an expedited naturalization process for those already inside the country. The latter of these two views - if adopted by the party - could help ensure the GOP would retake and retain the House and Senate for the foreseeable future, while the former stance could be the one thing that could possibly derail the widely anticipated GOP landslide victory in the upcoming mid-term elections in November.

Senator Vitter on Congressman Charlie Melancon's Stimulus Vote

Now, instead of admitting that supporting a multi-trillion dollar spending bill was bad for our state and country, Melancon and his liberal friends in Congress are attacking Senator Vitter for having the intestinal fortitude to stand up to Reid and Pelosi and vote against the bill in the interests of Louisiana.

Senator David Vitter: Put the American Government on a Real Budget Now
Louisianans and Americans across the country are tightening their family budgets and reducing their spending. President Obama and the liberal friends of Charlie Melancon are not following the example of American families reducing spending, and are instead proposing to grow the government and spend more than at any time in American history.
