Senator David Vitter: Put the American Government on a Real Budget Now
The Time is NOW for the American Government to Start Adhering to a Real Budget
By: Senator David Vitter (R-LA)
February 18, 2010
Less than one week after President Obama delivered his state of the union, he has done a complete 180 on his promises and proposed a budget that will tax and spend higher than ever.
Louisianans and Americans across the country are tightening their family budgets and reducing their spending. President Obama and the liberal friends of Charlie Melancon are not following the example of American families reducing spending, and are instead proposing to grow the government and spend more than at any time in American history.
The proposed budget would spend $3.8 trillion in the fiscal year beginning October 1 and continue the government's size of 25% of GDP indefinitely. Both liberal and conservative economists agree that these record levels of spending are unsustainable.
We need to act today. I will continue to fight Obama's unacceptable spending craze that will bankrupt our country. But, I need your help.
I would like to thank in advance all those helping to fight reckless government spending for your support. Together, we can fight for fiscal responsibility in our government.

Senator David Vitter is Louisiana's only Republican Senator at present. Mary Landrieu, the state's other Senator, is not up for reelection this coming November.
