Fox News doesn't like you Mr. President...  Get over it!

October 22, 2009

By: Fat Lester

I cannot remember another Presidential Administration as painstakingly insecure as this current one.  It seems they are completely and totally incapable of handling even the slightest bit of criticism without throwing a hissy-fit and a temper tantrum over it.  Sadly, it is becoming increasingly clear that President Barack H. Obama and his administration view free speech (critical speech, to be exact) as a problem to be dealth with.  Watching the administration's recent propaganda campaign to discretic Fox News unfold was like watching a child on a playground whFox News is mean to poor Barryo goes and cries to mommy every time another kid does something he doesn't like.  Nevermind that there are important issues involved with what his administration is doing with (to) the media (such as freedom of the press, for example); Barry doesn't want his feelings hurt, and he's going to go crying to mommy and tattle on anyone who dares to so much as even threaten to criticize him.

Waah!  Waah!  Fox News was being mean to me  :-(
Waah!  Glen Beck doesn't like me  :-(
Waah!  Rush Limbaugh made fun of me in front of EVERYBODY!  :-(

For crying out loud (no pun intended) Mr. President, not everyone is going to like you and agree with you.  Get over it!  You're coming across like a ninny with all these tit-for-tat engagements of media critics.  There was a time when American Presidents were above such nonsense and saw no need to compromise freedom of the press for the sake of silencing a few would-be critics.  Grow up already!  If you start acting like a man that has at least some semblance of pride and self-respect, I for one will like you better and will show you more respect than I have up to this point in your presidency.

I still may not like you in the literal sense of the word.  I probably still wouldn't agree with your agenda (an occasional exception here-and-there), but at least any criticisms I voice concerning your policies will not include criticism of your weakness as an individual.

In America, Mr. President, it is unacceptable for men to behave in the manner you and some of the other purported males (delta and gamma males, for sure --- there isn't a single beta among you, much less anything close to an alpha male) in your administration behave.  Your Press Secretary is among the most egregious offenders.  He's like the Pillsbury Dough Boy's evil twin.  He's not quite man (or woman) enough to dismiss criticism and/or questions regarding criticism with class, style and composure.  Instead, he engages in these sophomoric name-calling sessions with the media in a futile attempt to discredit those media outlets perceived as being critical of your agenda.

Respect must be earned when in such a high-profile position as yourself. So far in your Presidency, minus a fleeting exception or two here and there, you haven't been doing a very good job of earning that respect.  I'm not even a foreign head of state and I recognize this. Imagine what those strategizing against you must be thinking.

Mr. President, I'm asking you to start acting like an adult --- NOW!  And for the love of God, would you please demand the same of those who represent you (i.e. your cabinet and administration).  Your reckless childishness is doing irreparable damage do my country's reputation in the world.  Now instead of thinking that we're bullies, the rest of the world thinks we're a nation of wussies.  This is NOT the kind of change we wanted or had hoped would be ushered in by your election to the world's highest office.  We at least expected you'd have a spine that was capable of supporting that over-inflated head of yours.  If you in fact do have a anything close to a backbone, you've yet to show anything that would convince me such was the case.

I am not one who will criticize everything you do regardless of what you do.  If you start acting like you're the President of the American Government and the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Military, I will acknowledge it.  Being President though entails responsibility and professionalism --- your job demands more of it than any other job in the world.  Being President isn't about partying and flying your friends and family around the world on feel-good diplomatic missions.  You may get to do some of that, but the tremendous responsiblity associated with the office must be the first priority.  So far, this responsibility has not been shown the amount of respect historically associated with the office.  You are governing more like a movie-star actor playing the role of President than as our past Presidents (from both parties) throughout the history of this great country have conducted themselves.

Please Mr. President, get your mind out of this delusional patty-cake fantasy world in which mommy can enact justice on all the kids that don't play nice with little Barry, and start acting like you're dealing with foreign heads of state and that you represent more than a rancid, overflowing diaper.  If you do, I will publicly ackowledge it and give credit where it is due.

Mr. Obama, the country is reeling in the wake of your Texas-sized embarrassments.  You need to get your act together and start acting like you're the Commander-in-Chief of the greatest country and military in the world.  Your Presidency has been a laughing stock to date.  I would gladly sit back and watch as your approval ratings made a U-turn if it meant you'd stop blowing your nose and wiping your tears on the American flag while whining about Fox News, and instead give me something to actually be proud of for once in your presidency.

Not everyone will like you.  No amount of attacking Fox News, Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck is going to change that.  Nor will attacking critics shut them up.  You're not going to shut up Fox unless you're able to get their ratings to start falling (which you're not able to do).  Even if you did manage to usurp Fox News' First Amendment rights, there would still be people that don't like you simply because they don't agree with your socialist agenda.  GET OVER IT.  These people are known as freethinkers, and no amount of propaganda (or lack thereof) is going to get them on board with you.  You will not get this demographic to view you favorably until you change your policies and your agenda to reflect less of what bureaucrats and corporate interests are seeking and more of what the general American population would like see from you.

We're not all usefull idiots, and believe it or not there are people in this world who don't even watch Fox News that still have major objections to some or all of your agenda.  You cannot make us do a complete 180 simply by discrediting Fox News in an effort to marginalize dissent.  We see it for what it is, Mr. Obama.  We see you taking the first-steps toward a Castro/Chavez-esque usurpation of the media by sewing the seeds of discontent with Fox's coverage of your administration.  Our resistance to you will only grow stronger if you continue to attack individuals and businesses that express discontent with your legislative and judicial agendas.  Show us that you respect and are sincere in your promise (sworn oath) to protect our right to disagree with you and do so publicly.  Do this, and you just might earn a new supporter or two.  At the very least, you would successfully soften the rhetoric of those opposed to your administration's political agenda without breaching that which is sacred.

Perhaps if you starting showing yourself and your country a little bit of respect, you might just convince enough people that you are in fact an anatomically intact human being that your approval ratings would stop falling as if trapped inside some bottomless pit.  It's worth a shot.  Nothing else that you've tried has shown any degree of promise, much less any measure of success.  At this point, if you are given the benefit of the doubt regarding the sincerety of your stated intentions and motives for implementing the legislative agenda that you have initiated, your administration has been flinging at the wall whatever you can clutch in your fingers in hopes that something will stick.

It must have been a lowly moment at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue when you decided to effectively plagiarize the Afghanistan war strategy (the one given to you by Vice President Dick Cheney) that you all-too-conveniently tried to pass off as your own work while simultaneously attempting to point the finger of blame at the previous administration for your own administration's failures -- despite the fact that said administration gave you the plan in confidence for the sake of the country and the country's best interests (completely putting politics aside to do so, I might add).

You can change all that by accepting that some people will never be fond of you and your policies.  Also, you should demonstrate that you are able to accept that cold truth without whining and engaging in obsessive compulsive name-calling with the media.  If you do that, you just may have a chance to salvage something other than a Carter II legacy from your Presidency.  That might just be enough to get French President Nicholas Sarkozy to regain a little bit of respect for you. Ouch...
